Nathan Bush

Nathan Bush is a metalwork specialist from the Snowbird Community.  His parents are Onita and Mark Bush of Snowbird, who taught him from a young age about medicinal plants that grow naturally in our homeland.  He is a blacksmith and coppersmith working on the revitalization of Pre-Colonial style of copperwork.  This craft is a special tradition of ours that had all but died out after the Removal. 

Bush collaborates with historic, academic and traditional professionals to make his work, including William Rogers, JR Wolfe, and the University of Tennessee’s McClung Museum. 

Nathan’s goal is to promote Cherokee crafts, techniques and to preserve copperwork as one of our traditional media and medicine for future generations.
