Lucy Dean Reed

Lucy Dean Reed started molding native clay at 16 years old under the instruction of Annie Driver and Lydia Littlejohn.  While Dean uses the traditional Cherokee methods to make her pottery, she has never stopped improving her craftsmanship. 

Dean really enjoys her work and loves sharing it with others, especially when she demonstrates and teaches school children as well as college students the tricks to her craft. 

Dean has won first place in several Cherokee Fall Festivals as well as having her artwork on display in the Smithsonian.  Dean live in the Painttown community where she continues to create her unique pots every day.
